Laminectomy – is surgery that creates space by removing the lamina — the (knobbly) back part of the vertebra that covers your spinal canal. Also known as decompression surgery, laminectomy enlarges your spinal canal to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves
Plantar Flexion – Plantar flexion is the movement of the foot away from the body by bending the ankle. Plantar flexion occurs when you stand on your tiptoes or when you push down on the gas pedal in your vehicle. Plantar flexion depends on the muscles of the ankle and calf to work properly.

Myfitnesspal – computer app that records calorie intake and breaks information down into nutritional components. the information automatically downloads to “Training Peaks”
Training Peaks – a computer app that connects both athlete and coach. Allows the athlete to be remotely coached and provides really useful information in putting together a training program.
Strava – a social computer app that allows you to record your activity and to share with others
Breeze – an initiative set up by British Cycling to get 1,000,000 more women cycling regularly by 2020
Sportive – an organised, sign-posted and sometimes marshalled cycling event which (for insurance reasons) is definitely NOT a race!
